Time Converter

The Time Converter turns any amount of time into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries and millennia at once. Type a number into any field, such as 12,000 minutes, and every other unit shows how long that is.

Months and years have no fixed length, so the converter uses averages: a year of 365.25 days, as the calendar averages over its leap years, and a month of a twelfth of that, 30.4375 days.

How to convert time units

Divide when going to a larger unit, and multiply when going to a smaller one:

1. 12,000 minutes in days: a day has 1,440 minutes.

   12,000 / 1,440 = 8.333 days

2. 1,209,600 seconds in hours: an hour has 3,600 seconds.

   1,209,600 / 3,600 = 336 hours, which is exactly 2 weeks

3. 50,000 hours in months: a month averages 730.5 hours.

   50,000 / 730.5 = 68.45 months, or about 5.7 years

To split a result into whole units, keep the whole part and convert the rest. For example, 8.333 days is 8 days, and 0.333 × 24 = 8 hours.
