🎯 Streamlined Interface - Less Clutter, More Focus
We've listened to your feedback and made CalcKit significantly easier to navigate. After analyzing usage data, we discovered that many rarely-used specialized tools were creating unnecessary clutter, making it harder to find the tools you actually need.
The result? We've reduced the number of visible items by nearly 30% while impacting only 3% of actual usage. This means:
- Faster navigation: Less scrolling to find commonly-used tools
- Cleaner interface: More focused tool list without overwhelming options
- Better discoverability: Popular tools are easier to spot
- Improved performance: Faster loading and smoother scrolling
🔍 Dramatically Improved Search Results
One of the most significant improvements in this update is search quality. We've removed obscure compound-unit converters that were polluting search results.
Previously, searching for common terms like "meter" would show you dozens of irrelevant results like "ampere per meter" or "heat flux per square meter". Now, searches return focused, relevant results - exactly what you're looking for!
🔧 Hidden Tools - Access Everything When You Need It
We haven't deleted anything! All specialized tools are still available through a new "Show hidden tools" toggle in Settings (off by default).
What's been optimized:
- Specialized converters: Heat, Magnetism, Radiation, and Light converters are now hidden by default
- Niche fluid dynamics: Advanced fluid converters moved to hidden tools
- Advanced electrical units: Kept essential units (Voltage, Current, Resistance, Capacitance), hid specialized ones
- Engineering converters: Focused on commonly-used tools (Torque, Acceleration, Density, Airflow)
Power users and professionals can simply enable "Show hidden tools" in Settings to access the complete collection of 170+ tools!
📦 Smart Tool Organization
We've consolidated related tools for better organization:
- Clothing Converters: Shoe Size, Belt Size, Dress Size, Ring Size, and Hat Size are now grouped under one convenient category
- Electronics Resources: AWG Size Chart, Datasheet Finder, Circuit Symbols, Logic Gates, and Resistivity Table are now organized together
- Unified Unit Converters: All converter categories now consistently labeled as "Unit Converters" for clearer navigation
🛠️ Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Improved Triangle Calculator: Triangle solver can now find all sides when you know all angles and any one height, even if no side lengths are known.
- Translation Updates: Improved translations across multiple languages for better clarity and consistency
- Enhanced Performance: Faster app loading and smoother navigation thanks to streamlined tool list
- Better Resource Management: Reduced memory usage for improved stability on all devices
